Watch outA proprietary card, so it is not an ordinary SSD and does not work in a PlayStation. An external USB drive is cheaper but cannot run Series X|S games directly.
The cheaper option, and its catch
An ordinary external USB drive is far cheaper than either expansion route, and both consoles accept one. The catch is the same on both: current-generation games can be stored on it and moved off it, but not played from it. For last-generation games it is fine.
If you are buying storage purely for Grand Theft Auto VI, waiting costs you nothing — the install size is still unpublished, and pre-load does not open until 12 November.
